Hallo my dear friends ! Welcome back to my blog :)
BASE COLOURING
In this article i will show you how i achieved a blonde ombre on my own ,with an ashy blonde base .
HAIR HISTORY
I was about to go to a hair salon but the cost was estimated over 100 euros and the hairdresser wasn't sure if he would make it exactly the way i want it to be . So i decided to make it on my own !
My hair before the base colour and Ombre process |
For the history , my hair were red for a really long time period and then i decided to turn back to blonde so i went to a hair salon for a bleaching session . Since i didn't like the final colour ( it was TOO yellow ) , i decided to colour my hair at home ( after some weeks ) with Garnier Colour Sensation 6.0 to chase away the yellow and meanwhile i used a Silver shampoo ( for those who don't know about it , it's a purple filtered shampoo that absorbes the yellow tone when the hair are light enough ) . So after all , i decided to have an Ombre in order to let my hair breathe and be away from full length colouring especially on the summer period . So the starting colour before the following process was a medium ashy blonde :) .
PROCESS
- 2 x Schwarzkopf Palette 7.1
- 1 x L'Oreal Paris Wild Ombres preference No.4
- Gloves ( included in the hair dye box )
- Old blouse to wear during the colouring sessions
Total Cost : 19 euros
BASE COLOURING
Since i was about to bleach the ends of my hair ( that's what the Ombre kit does ) i prefered not to colour the ends with the base colour to avoid the double damage . So what i did is to first colour my roots and first 1/3 of my hair length, with the base colour , let it on for 20 minutes and then apply the rest of the hair dye on the lengths ( except of the edges ) and let it on for 10 minutes .
So after that , i rinsed out the hair dye and put on an amazing moisturing hair mask ! ( The more you let the hair mask on ,the more effective it is ) and then dried my hair in medium temperature (avoid high temperature - it damages them ) .
If you want you can wait some days between the base colouring and ombre session but i wanted to do it on the same day ( avoid it if your hair are not in a good condition ) .
OMBRE PROCESS
Here is the whole process step by step to do your own Ombre ! Relax ! It's easier than it sounds :3
After you ensure that your hair are COMPLETELY dry , you can go on the Ombre process .
The first step is to brush your hair so that you will not have any combs in your hair ! This is really important !
Then open the Ombre kit box , put on your gloves and mix the ingredients in the plastic bottle included . ( There are enclosed instructions in the box as well )
Shake a lot and your bleaching cream is ready ! :3
Divide your hair in two sections and put them in front ( one in each side ) . Choose the height that you want your ombre to start from and use the brush you will find in the box . Specifically :
Put a lot of the cream mix on the brush until it's completely covered.
Start brushing small hair sections starting from the back side to the front (as displayed) and ensure the whole section is covered with the cream . Refill the cream on the brush after every hair section .
It's really important to be fast during the process otherwise the one side will be lighter than the other ( the more you leave the bleaching cream on the lighter it gets ) so manage your time properly .
( TIP!!!! To make the result look more natural , choose 3-4 hair sections on each side and apply the cream on them a little higher . I also applied the cream in two front hair sections closer to the roots and i liked a lot how it turned out ^_^ ! )
Check your hair every some minutes to see the colour .
When you see the desired tone rinse out and wash your hair with the shampoo you'll find in the Ombre kit box . DON'T let the bleaching cream on for more than 30-40 minutes , this will damage your hair . Also if your hair are in a bad condition ( damaged , burned , dry , after permanent or other hard process ) reduce the pending time and don't go over 15 mins ) .
FURTHER CARE
After washing out the bleaching cream with the shampoo included , apply a hair mask for repair and moisturize and leave it on for some minutes ( i massaged the edges of my hair meanwhile ) and rinse with warm water ( not too warm though ) .
Then dry you hair as usual and you are ready ^_^ !
Here is the final result under different lightings :3 ( the middle picture is on natural sunlight coming from the windows so it's the most representing )
I suggest you to trim a little the ends of your hair because bleaching is a really damaging process and your hair health is more important than 1-2 extra cm of length !
Hope my article was useful for you and if you try Ombre on your own , let me know.
For further questions on it you can message me and if you feel confused we can have a Skype session and help you step by step !
Good luck :D
